Jeff represents companies in the financial services and mortgage industries nationwide in litigation and government investigations.  He has obtained jury verdicts and judgments in state and federal courts and arbitration proceedings throughout the country, and he regularly represents companies in class actions and complex litigation.  He defends companies in a wide range of matters, including suits brought under the False Claims Act, federal and state consumer protection statutes, and financial and consumer regulatory statutes such as RESPA, TILA, FCRA, and ECOA.  Jeff’s practice includes general commercial litigation, trade secrets disputes, and business and contract disputes.

In addition, Jeff represents companies in connection with government investigations and enforcement actions brought by federal and state regulatory agencies.  He has represented clients before the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and analogous state agencies.

Representative Matters

  • Obtained jury verdict in Texas state court on behalf of defendant financial institution in matter alleging state antitrust violations, breach of contract, quantum meruit, and unjust enrichment
  • Obtained judgment in contested arbitration on behalf of financial institution for misappropriation of trade secrets by former employees
  • Obtained judgment on behalf of financial institution against former employees and new employer for RICO violations and misappropriation of trade secrets
  • Represented financial services companies in connection with investigations and enforcement actions brought by the CFPB, DOJ, and HUD OIG.
  • Defended putative class actions brought under state and federal consumer protection statutes
  • Represented lenders in qui tam suits under the False Claims Act
  • Represented appraisal management company in federal antitrust action against state board of licensing
