CSBS Invites Comments on Proposed Changes to Education and Testing Fees

The Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) issued a proposal to increase the SAFE MLO Test Enrollment Fee from $110 to $120, effective March 1, 2027, and the Credit Banking Fee, which covers reporting course completion into NMLS, from $1.50 per credit hour to $1.55 per credit hour, effective January 1, 2027.  The Test Enrollment Fee increase would only affect MLOs who are new to the industry or who need to retake the test, while the Credit Banking Fee increase would impact all licensed MLOs.  CSBS is inviting comments from members of the public, including industry members and trade associations, which will be posted on the NMLS Resource Center.  CSBS is particularly interested in whether the fee changes will affect company staffing plans and whether companies that currently pay the testing and/or education fees for their MLOs will continue to do so.  Comments should be submitted by email by July 10, 2026.
