CFPB Issues RFI Concerning Consumer Complaints and Inquiries

The CFPB issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking information on its handling of consumer complaints and inquiries.

The CFPB identifies various topics and is seeking comments that specifically relate to:

  • Positive and negative aspects of the complaint and inquiry processes;
  • Suggestions for updates or modifications to the complaint and inquiry processes; and
  • Best practices for complaint and inquiry processes.

The CFPB also provides a detailed list that solicits more specific feedback related to the three general topics identified immediately above.

Comments are due July 16, 2018.

This is the twelfth in a series of RFIs announced as part of Acting Director Mick Mulvaney’s call for evidence to ensure the CFPB is fulfilling its proper and appropriate functions. One of those previous RFIs sought feedback on the CFPB’s public reporting practices of consumer complaint information, some responses to which will be considered as part of the consumer complaints and inquiries RFI.
