California Governor Orders Citizens to Stay at Home

As part of the state’s response to the COVID-19 crisis, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order on the evening of March 19, 2020, ordering all citizens to stay at home, “except as needed to maintain continuity of operation of the federal critical infrastructure sectors, critical government services, schools, childcare, and construction, including housing construction.”  Essential services, including banks, and workers in the federal critical infrastructure sectors as identified below, may stay open pursuant to the order.  The order is effective immediately, and is in effect for an indeterminate time period.
